Nuclear Factor-Kappa B in Gliomas as a Predictive Factor for Tumor Recurrence – A Clinicopathological Study

چکیده
BACKGROUND: Glioma is the most common primary malignant brain tumor. Nuclear factor κB (NF-κB) has emerged as a regulator of phenotype in glioma, and particular glioblastoma multiforme, with clear relation to tumor size, recurrence, invasiveness. AIM: The aim study was analysis NF-κB expression gliomas different histologic types grades its correlation various clinicopathologic indicators. METHODS: One hundred ten paraffin blocks glioma cases classified according WHO classification into 14 (12.7%) Grade I pilocytic astrocytoma, 27 (24.5%) II gliomas, 26 (23.6%) III 43 (39.1%) IV glioblastoma. correlations between immunostainings clinicopathological parameters were analyzed statistically. RESULTS: Positive immunostaining for encountered (64/110) 58.2% gliomas. Statistical revealed significant association positive high histological grade (p < 0.001), recurrence tumors = large size (≥5 cm) subtypes (glioblastoma represented 51.6% cases, while astrocytoma 1.6% cases) 0.001) age patient (≥40) 0.039). CONCLUSIONS: A strong direct observed. behaves negative independent prognostic risk recurrence. Hence, inhibition may be new therapeutic strategy prevent particularly high-grade type.

Receptor Activator of Nuclear Factor Kappa B Ligand (RANKL) Levels in Peri-Implant Crevicular Fluid
Background: Receptor activator of nuclear factor kappa B ligand (RANKL) is one of the key cytokines in the induction of osteoclastogenesis both in vitro and in vivo.Several reports indicated the presence of sRANKL in gingival crevicular fluid of patients with periodontal diseases. Objective: To determine the presence of RANKL in peri-implant crevicular fluid samples of implants with peri-implan...
متن کاملNuclear Factor-kappa B as a Resistance Factor to Platinum-Based Antineoplasic Drugs
Platinum drugs continue to be major chemotherapy drugs for cancer treatment. Nevertheless, acquired or intrinsic resistance to these compounds is common in human tumors. One important mechanism for this resistance is the avoidance of cells entering the apoptotic pathway. Nuclear factor-kappa B (NF-kappa B, NF-kappaB) is a pleiotropic transcription factor key in determining the death threshold o...
متن کاملIdentification of a nuclear factor kappa B-dependent gene network.
Nuclear factor-kappa B (NF-kappaB) is a highly inducible transcription factor that plays an important role in the hepatic acute-phase response, innate/adaptive immunity, and cellular survival through the induction of genetic networks. The major transcriptional-activating species Rel A-NF-kappaB is a cytoplasmic complex whose nuclear translocation is controlled by its association with a family o...
متن کاملLipopolysaccharide and Tumor Necrosis Factor Regulate Parkin Expression via Nuclear Factor-Kappa B
Inflammation and oxidative stress have been implicated in the pathophysiology of Parkinson's disease (PD) and inhibition of microglial activation attenuates degeneration of dopaminergic (DA) neurons in animal models of PD. Loss-of-function mutations in the parkin gene, which encodes an E3 ubiquitin ligase, cause autosomal recessive parkinsonism. While most studies on Parkin have focused on its ...

Objective(s): To study the effect of cardiopulmonary bypass (CPB) on nuclear factor-kappa B (NF-кB) and cytokine expression and pulmonary function in dogs. Materials and Methods: Twelve male mongrel dogs were divided into a methylprednisolone group (group M) and a control group (group C). All animals underwent aortic and right atrial catheterization under general anesthesia. Changes in pulmonar...
